it's been a while

so i have just started helping out at church with the audio part of worship and it has been interesting.  i never thought that there's so much work required in preparation for just one single worship service.  also, i have committed myself to a mission trip to the philippines during the month of august.  i'll be gone from the 8th till the 31st.  luckily, i work for the county and so getting vacation days off have been real easy.  and again, i never knew there's so much to do in preparing for a mission trip.  i just thought all i needed was a plane ticket to the destination, and weeks worth of clean clothing.  not only do i need to worry about getting a visa, i also need to worry about flying bugs...according to my coworker, they're everywhere.

getting paid is great, and if i am getting paid for doing something i love, that's even better.  finally got my "business" started, and got paid for my first "official" photoshoot.  to be honest tho, the most rewarding thing wasn't the money, it was the fact that during the photo presentation, my customer and her husband said, "that's a great picture"....for every other picture i've shown them.  no so much because i'm a great photographer, because i'm not.  but because my work is being appreciated, that kind of reward is, in fact, priceless.

along the same train of thought, wouldn't be great if my two of my closest friends got to know Christ and became a believer.  no so much thinking about being "rewarded" for leading them to Christ, but knowing that when the end comes, i'll be able to see them again!  i have been praying for them and have shared during the sharing part of the worship practice.

pastor harrison's sermon reminded me of the bible verse i had to recite during winter retreat with mustard seed ministry before dinner.  if we couldn't memorize it, we couldn't have dinner.  during that part of my life, that particular bible verse really hit home, so i wrote a poem incorporating that bible verse into the poem.  the verse was about being weak, and showing your weakness.  i think knowing that you're weak is the first step, and trust in God is the second, so you boast about your weakness because His power is made complete in it.  great reminder for me!
